30-06 or 7mm Mag

I have taken 17 deer with the 30.06 in various rifles. I have taken 4 deer with the 7 MAG. that I bought a few years ago. I have other rifles in different calibers but I always come back to those two. So far I have not been able to tell a bit of difference in the killing power. Without a doubt the 7 MAG will probably stretch it legs out a little better, but heck most of my hunting is 100 yards or less. The 7 MAG. seems to have more recoil, but it seems like it is not that much more to me.

I think I have come to the conclusion that the proven 30.06 is plenty for my type of hunting.

I like them equally, but the handloading for the 7mm is a greater challenge for me right now. Both rifles I speak of are both real "go-getters", I couldn't be talked into picking one over the other.;)

I hunt with a 7mm Rem Mag Savage. My buddy hunts with a 30.06 Savage.

Together we have hunted and taken numerous whitetail and antelope at various distance out to 300 yards or so. Neither round has failed or done any thing the other can't do.

Ammo is a bit more for the 7mm and seems to have a little more recoil but otherwise , you can't go wrong with either.
