i still think u need a 22 at 35 bucks or more a box the 300 wsm is taxed but u can handle it and i would have got the full size 300 win mag im not a fan of the short mags

I actually wanted 30-06, but being left handed limits your options. I was at gander mountain and they only had about 5 total left handed bolt action rifles.
1 was 30-06 but it was a remington 700 (which im not a fan of remington)
Another was a .308 but it was heavy barrel and the rest were just plain ugly besides the savage lol.

What I really wanted was a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker Left Handed 30-06

But they didn't have it lefty.

As for ammunition, I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought it lol

It kinda sucks but I'm willing to shell out the money for the rounds. I bought 3 boxes of 20 each to start out with so that should be enough for my first shooting session with the rifle.

u know they can order you what ever gun u want

I tried having the A Bolt ordered, they called a day later and said the distributor (or whatever it was) did not have any at all in stock.

Nighttrain,

Your first post is to start calling people wimps because they tried to offer their sincere and best advise to a novice that ASKED for opinions, even though it seems he didn't really want advise, just affirmation of what he had already decided.

With that sort of attitude and disregard for other people's views you should be a real popular and respected member here.

Cassera,

There are other places besides Gander Mountain to buy a gun. GunsAmerica has probably 200 lefthanded bolt action rifles in all calibers available at any given time, including A Bolts. My ordering experiences with them has always been excellent.

Also, I don't think you were told to get nothing but a .22. You were given personal opinions based on what appears to be years of experience by some. Anyway, glad you got what you wanted. Hope it gives you years of pleasure.

I was a little disappointed by some of the responses I got on here because it seemed like you guys were straight forward telling me to get a .22 and nothing else.

well, you did ask for recommendations on a first rifle, didn't you? I was told to buy a .22 for my first rifle and I ended up getting a .270 win instead. BUT, I did a lot of research on my own as well as take the advice from the forum into consideration. sounds to me like you were impatient and just went and bought the first left-handed rifle you could find at your local gun store.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of invaluable information and a lot of experienced gun enthusiasts and hunters on TFL BUT only you can decide what you want and what works for you. You may not like what you hear but asking for advice on a first rifle is like asking everyone what kind of car you should buy. you'll get a million different answers.

Nightrain, you're not adding anything that's even remotely valuable to this conversation. I don't see how equating a larger caliber rifle means having balls. a large caliber rifle is useless if you don't know how to fire it.
