3 NEW polymer striker fired 9mms

LOL I think the same way about YouTube tests. I will never have to worry about my guns getting nasty in the city where I live and carry, but I sure do enjoy watching other people mistreat their guns to give me an idea of what they can handle.

As for me, I have shot a lot of SIGs and a lot of Glocks over the years. Back to back, I pretty much shoot them the same even at speed. I really just notice the difference in how they FEEL while shooting.

So this is what I mean about the ejection port gap.

Edit: I circled the area I'm talking about. It's the bottom of the locking lug on the barrel with the side that fits into the exterior of the ejection port. The gap runs the whole length of the ejection port. On most pistols this is mostly sealed up. On the APX you can see straight into the frame. I know it might look like a shadow in that circled area on the APX but it's actually a lack of reflection because the light isn't getting deep into the frame, but you can easily reach in there with a 5/64" punch. Actually you can see the reflection of the takedown lever in the middle. The P320 has more of a gap than the Glock, but it's still not nearly as pronounced as this. It might not be of any difference at all, but it was enough for me to notice by eye just in handling the APX for a while:

That doesn't look like a problem to me. A lot of guns have a gap like that. The P320 has it. I may be wrong, but I think the stock Glock barrels have a bit more of a gap also. Not sure if it's to allow heat to dissipate or what, but it's pretty common.

The picture on top is a Glock. The second picture is an APX. And no the APX has much of a gap than the Glock. I'll try to circle it in the pictures and reupload.

I know it's a Glock on top, but it's got an aftermarket barrel. Is there more gap with a stock barrel? I just got back from the gun shop again. I felt like looking at more stuff. Various other guns have similar gaps. The APX they had also had it. There was also a bit of a gap with the 92FS they had in stock. I think it's a pretty common design element. I don't think it'll be problematic, but I don't know for sure.

Edit: I just double checked with my stock Glock 26 and the gap seems essentially the same. There might be a paper's width more of a gap but it's not appreciable (I need to get a set of feeler gauges). The stock Glock seems to have slightly less of a gap than the P320, then the APX moreso than either.

I know other pistols have a gap. My concern isn't the gap itself, but the size of it. As I said I don't think it's overly worrying, but I think of something like a torture test with sand or mud and I wonder if it would be a problem. As I said so far mine has had zero issues.

Ok I gotcha. I didn't think it looked to bad in the shop but who knows? MAC will get around to testing it I'm sure. I know the P320 didn't like that mud he used but I was overall very happy with the P320 test.

Yea I think he should redo that test tbh. That pistol was getting light strikes out of the elements so it makes it a bit hazy to use as a baseline.

True. He also mentioned that the mud was not the same consistency as usual, much more soupy. I wouldn't mind seeing it redone, but at the same time I don't expect it to run flawless in that mud. But I also don't put as much stock in mud tests anyway. More so dirt and sand, especially since I live in AZ, and murky water. Mud is pretty specific, though. You only really see that in small areas on the edges of water or if it's raining really hard. Plus if your gun gets in it, it's gonna get everywhere and need a bath. A retest wouldn't be a bad thing, but I'd rather see some of these newer guns first.

Agreed. I don't expect it would change the results much I just think there's a bit of an asterisk there.

For me in New England it's mainly the dirt and the water tests I look at, and if I'm honest with myself given that I'm not in the woods as much as I'd like anymore it's mainly the water.

marine6680 , this one's for you.

I held a VP9 today on the line, very nice grip, felt great, very smooth. My P-10C grip is very heavily "textured", and I was worried it would drive me nuts while shooting, but after the first one went downrange, I forgot about it completely. This gun is FUN to shoot.
