Works for me -- with .44 Spl
I use a 2.5 inch 629 for a carry gun, but loaded with .44 Specials. I have shot it with full power loads, but it is not much fun. Like Madison says, I handload 240 gr LSWCs to about 950-1000 fps, between factory Special and Magnum loads, and it is reasonably comfortable to shoot. If I'm doing outdoor work on the farm during deer season, stoked with full power loads it takes up no room at all on the belt, though since I started carrying it, I stopped seeing deer close up.
I also have a ported 2.5 inch 657, .41 Magnum. If you want to attract attention on an indoor range, light that one off a few times!
