3" barrels?

There is a K-Frame LadySmith?,,,

I thought all of the LadySmith models were based on the J-Frame,,,
I have a 3" LadySmith that is a Model 36-3 and I love it,,,
I knew about 3" K-frames but not LadySmiths.

Wow, I learn something every day in here!

I have a lady friend who wants a LadySmith very badly,,,
She is enamored with that moniker being engraved on the gun,,,
Unfortunately for her, she has very large hands that engulf my model 36-3 LS.

Model 65-6 you say,,,
Now that I know they do exist,,,
I'll start searching gun auction sites and shows,,,
I have a feeling if I could find one she would fall in like with me. :D

.

I found one,,,

A Model 65 LadySmith that is,,,
And it comes with a pink range bag,,,
Only problem is they want $759.00 for the gun.

So much for buying the gun for her as a gift. :(

She makes more than I do,,,
I sent her the link to the auction,,,
Maybe she'll reward me with a finder's fee. :D

Here's my only 3" revolver ... but its a model 629 "Trail Boss" in .44 mag ...and carrying it in an outside the waist band holster is one thing ...but inside the waist band every day as a CCW weapon ( no way ..) in my opinion.

Its ported / so it doesn't jump as much as you'd think -- even with full power .44 mag loads in it ... I find it controllable and accurate out to 30 feet pretty easily for "double or triple taps" or whatever ... / beyond 30 feet ... the sight plane is too short for me to shoot it accurately ....but adequately, is probably good enough with a .44 mag ( and the noise alone, keeps the riff raff away pretty well ...) ...

If I carry a revolver / I carry a 4" model 66 or 19 in .357 mag ....
I like the 4" a lot in a .357 mag revolver ....

If a six shooter is desired, I'd recommend:

1. 2 1/2 barrel M66/M19 combat magnum

2. 2 3/4 barrel Ruger speed six.

3. 3inch barrel Smith M64/64/10/13 (.38 and .357 versions.)

4.Or even a Colt Detective Special with 3 inch tube (if you can find one!)

I find once you get to the weight of the GP-100, Smith 686, and Colt Lawman they get to heavy, even with just a 3 inch barrel.

But any of those above would make excellent carry revolvers (I have most of 'em to!)

Another vote for the Model 60, or similar J frame

And another.

Recently saw two 3" J frames with adjustable sights in a LGS. The temptation was almost too much. Would be the ultmate carry / woods gun.

S&W alloy .38spl

I picked up a Ladysmith for my wife some years ago, 38 spl wil handle +p, 3" barrel, wonderful gun to shoot.

Excellent choice, the 3" wheelgun. I'd bet money you'll end up liking it for more than just a carry piece. If i had not settled and practiced with a compact semi-auto, i'd look at a 5 shot compact 3" .357, preferably alloy for weight savings.

Good luck!

Another vote for the Ruger SP101. Mine's a .357 Mag with a three-inch barrel. I carry it on the ride to/from work because it fits much better holstered in my work trousers than my my full-frame 1911 does. Many variations available. 2 or 3 inch barrels, spurred or unspurred hammers, etc.

I've shot two different Ruger SP-101s on a few occasions. The SP-101 hasn't got the same degree of fit and finish that the S&W M60 does, but then it costs about $150.00 less. For that $150, you can get a good trigger job. IMHO the biggest difference between them is that the SP-101 is heavier and tougher, can take more abuse and shoot hotter ammunition without risking the gun itself. The M60 is lighter and easier to manage; I find that I shoot better with it than with my friend's SP-101.

There are people who get into religious wars over which is the better gun. As best I can tell, it's a matter of taste. They're both excellent revolvers, and I can't imagine that you'd regret choosing either one of them.

Another vote on the SP101, mine is also in .327 Fed Mag.. pleasant to shoot but still offers good SD performance. I ended up with two by mistake, so may be putting one up soon for trade on something like a Ruger P95PR (stainless)
