250- 3000 and other quarter bores

I took my .257 Accumark out to the range today with some “new” bullets and loads, 120 Speer BTs, Sierra 100 MKs and the old standby 120 Hornady HPs. As expected, the Hornadys agged in the .6s while the Speers and Sierras were just 1-2 moa. Sadly the Hornadys were discontinued a few years ago, but I’ve still got 400+ left so I’m okay. My Mk-V just prefers these long-shank bullets versus the short-shank BT bullets, probably due to the freebore.

The 120HPs were a great bullet, designed for big case .25s they gave outstanding performance on medium game at all ranges, with great accuracy. A BC of just .394 seems low - but at 500 yards the drop and wind drift are only a couple inches different that the high-BC boattailed bullets…meaningless. I understand why they were discontinued - to make room for the high-BC bullets consumers prefer - but it’s still too bad.
