25-06 velocity

I have a 25-06 Ruger with 24" barrel. For 110 gr. and 115 gr. Hodgdon Retumbo is the best thing since rolled toilet paper. My loads chrony almost exactly what the load data shows.

Interesting point: The Nosler 120 gr. .257 partition has a Sectional Density of 0.260. The 140 gr. .277 partition has a sectional density of 0.261. The .308 caliber 168 gr partition has a sectional density of 0.248.

I was told by a very disciplined reloader he had to reduce his powder charge by 2 grains to prevent pressure signs. I suggest there were factors.

Guffey---well, there weren't any pressure signs with my loads, as per Nosler load data. No flattened primers, no sticky bolt. Just real consistent velocities. The accuracy is astounding with the 110 gr. Accubond. Partition---meh, so-so. If I use 15 more rounds before I am too old to hunt, that will be surprising, as I now have a nice 243 Marlin. Not to worry. :)

Every gun is an entity unto itself.
