25-06 or 7mm-08 better for me?

Personally I like my 25-06 Weatherby Vanguard Series 2. I recently purchased a Savage Model 12 LRP in .260 Remington. Next up is my CZ 550FS in .308. For varmint a 5.56 will do. I own a 5.56 RRA for with a 6.8SPCII upper for coyotes. If I want to use lighter rounds on fur bearing varmints I us a CZ 527 American in .223 with a 1 in 12 twist. My other 5.56 ARs are 1 in 9 twists.
Taylor once again I will not be using it as a "dedicated" varmint rifle just maybe some varminting on the side.
Probably going to skip on the 08 for the forseeable future from what it sounds like, vs .308 not much difference.
Long vs short action, doesn't really matter to me so should be good
You'll be amazed at how well the .25-06 takes to varminting. Living in OH that's what I primarily use mine for as we can't use rifle for deer. The cartridge excels at groundhog hunting with bullets of 85 to 90 grs.
I think you made a great choice.
It would make a more sense to decide what the gun was for, rather than just being 'inbetween'. Then narrow down a list of guns that suit the purpose and then consider how those guns are chambered.
For instance you might want a lighter, easy to carry deer (+/-) rifle. You might look for a 5-6 pound bolt action guns like Kimber 84M or Remington model 7. Then those guns are offered in 260 and 7mm08. Pick one that makes you happy. The 7mm should handle any game in North America. The 260 better able to extend to the smaller range.
Or you want to sit and take longer shots at smaller game from a prone position. You might be looking at a heavy Savage on a bipod and perhaps that comes in 2506 for instance. Or there is a Tikka varmint. How is that configured in which calibers.
Otherwise it is just what forum member wants to push is favorite and means nothing. I mean nothing point nothing.
The guns I buy are not about versatility but rather being really good at one thing. But that is me.
