Rinspeed, I tried a bunch of .22's when I started shooting again a couple of years ago. Liked the Hammerli Xesse Sport, the Ruger Mark iii Target, the Buck Mark MicroTarget and the S&W 422. Then, my shooting buddy showed up with his S&W Model 41. I looked everywhere for a new one, even contacting S&W.

I lusted for about a year before buying a NIB M41 via GB. Yes, it's expensive. However, it's a lifetime purchase. Last week, my LGS received a S&W 422 I had ordered via GB. In the email telling me it had arrived, he mentioned he had just received a new S&W M41 from his distributor. Wondered if I'd be interested in it. He was surprised; the M41 just showed up in a shipment from his distributor. Of course, I jumped on it; several hundred dollars less than S&W listed price on their website. I'm wondering if there's been a new production run. The folks at S&W said they had a production run scheduled, but that was almost two years ago.

rinspeed, which plastic part failed? i replaced my sr22's plastic guide rod with a steel one by galloway

It was the take down lever and at the time I did a little searching and found quite a few failures of this part. I have no idea if this was just a bad batch of parts or if it was design related. Very possible Ruger has fixed the issue, I don't know. I've owned seven or eight Rugers and never had a single problem with any of them, a couple of them have been rode hard pretty hard.

You're absolutely correct. On the first series run (360-prefix?) of the SR 22 pistols the take-down levers were found to have extreme issues. Those problems were fixed and the next, 361 series of pistols, run were all OK. I've sold quite a few of the SR 22 Ruger pistols and those have all been great performers for their buyers. It's by no means a target pistol, but for the two fellas that each bought one, they work real well in dispatching "stinky" critters that get caught in a trap.

We get night time prowlers who rummage threw stuff that they have no business getting into and so no one calls in gunshots heard at night, this outfit has been a real help with those trespassing onto our "empire". ;)

I own two Mkll. A 4'' stainless from the late '80's, a 6'' from the same period and a 22/45. I would not trade the MKll for any other .22 semi-auto. I own a total of 12 .22 semi-autos. My 2 Star FM's are probably the most accurate.
