.22lr with iron sights?

Mossberg 44US

If you are looking for a peep sighted rifle, you might include a Mossberg 44US in your search. These were sold affordably by CMP in years past, unfortunately, many w/o magazines. I do not k now what one will bring these days. A replacement mag will run $50 if you can find one. I single load mine. The triggers are a bit heavy , but they are simple and can be tweaked a bit. The barrels, if in good shape, are frequently first rate.

I have a dozen 22 rifles with reciever sights. I only have two with scopes. I don’t have any with house brand sights like use to be an option on most BA 22s. I have Lyman and Redfield reciever sights on mine. I like the click adjustments just like a scope. I also have some 22 with flip up Tang Peeps, fine for target but not much good for moving small game. The remainder just have factory original irons. Some I can’t shoot because I can’t see rear sight, to close for my eyes to focus on. The reciever peep is perfect for me and others that can’t see back sights.

If you can find one the Remington 510P would do. The P suffix is for Peep sights. The downside is that it is a single shot rifle. First rifle I ever owned and I really like that old rifle. Not sure if the 511 or 512 offered a peep but pretty much any older 22 rifle with a peep sight will have the rear sight aft of the action.

I have a Remington 513T. I think the T stands for target, as the rifle has a heavy barrel and target stock. Also has peep sights. Very accurate.

Got it from an uncle around 1982 or so, and it was old then!

There's the Savage B22 G. Wood stock, open sights, 21" barrel, and 10 round rotary magazine. I have this gun in the .22 Magnum model.

NECG makes peep sights that mount to picatinny rails. One can be mounted in the rear scope base of the Savage. Placing the peep above the bolt.

Skinner Sights offers peep sights that mount to the receiver. Placing the peep above or slightly behind the bolt.
