.22LR:The greatest thing since sliced bread?

I first started reading this thread expecting one thing...and now I have a strange hankerin to take my .22 conversion kit for my 92 out with a brick of whatever I can find and shoot through the whole thing...I just wish that didn't mean reloading the one mag I have for it 40 times

I need more .22 mags!!

my sisters hate shooting anything but the .22's at our closest range. i don't care for the pistols, but it's fun poking holes in paper with my rifle. will be buying dozens of .22's over my lifetime, i'm sure.

not quite a .22 LR, but, i think the most fun i've ever had at the range was when Grandpa brought a little semi-auto in .25 ACP. he's had it for 30+ years, it had a weak spring or something so the slide needed to be bumped forward most shots and the fixed sights were way too high, and i was holding at the bottom left of the target to hit the bull anyway at about 50 feet. if nothing else, that little gun has character :D

The 22LR is universal. It is the most popular round in the world. Guess that sort of tells you that there are a lot of people that enjoy shooting the lowly 22LR.

Unfortunately the .17HMR might drive your .22 Magnum into extinction. I'd be surprised if it's around in 20 years.

Not likely. I suspect it may be the other way around, but even that is unlikely considering the current popularity of the 17HMR. One of my favorite calibers to shoot is 41 mag. It's demise has been predicted since it was brought out in 1964 and it is running better than ever.

I suspect you may see the 22 Long totally disappear, but not the 22 Short.

Speaking of the .17 HMR, how popular is it exactly? No gun shop in my area carries any. Only Brass Pro Shops sells it around here, and I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 people shooting it, and I go to the range a lot.

I would think now that semi-auto .17 rifles were deemed unsafe, that may kill some of the .17 worship?
