.223/5.56 ammo prices - to go up or down?

Metal markets have been getting hit hard the last week after China's FU to Europe. Once supplies are used up at the inflated prices I am sure we will see ammo prices drop some. One thing to keep in mind though is if the ammo companies have grown accustomed to the higher prices we may not see any drop and even a raise to make up for soft sales.

One thing the China move has done is raise the value of the USD against the European currencies. That is always a good thing.

I appreciate all the comments and advice!

This was exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for in terms of what the driving factors are and what to expect in the near future.

Based on everything I've read, I'm going to go ahead and snag another case of 1000 rounds while I can afford it, and start to consider reloading in the future. I'll have 2000 rounds of brass to work with, so that should be a start at least.

Thanks again for all the input!

I big part of manufacturing today, specifically in USA is small lot runs.

Everyone is practicing one less kanban... Doing with less and meeting demand.

On top of this we have point of sale bar codes, that tell the computer to order when inventory hits X level...

Small lots = you pay a premium for material, and point of sale bar codes means if the customer demands it, they will pay the shipping.

All this is passed on to the consumer so the producers do not have to carry the cost of inventory.

Europeans are not this stupid and when they invest time in setting up tooling to run runs of material they run big ass lots and huge economies to scale to minimize cost to the maximum.

Large lot production is the most economical way to run production, the inventory does not spoil and will be consumed.

Also American business is total evil and all they care about is profit over taking care of consumers needs.

We need a ammo maker to run operations like they do in Russia and just crank out 100's of trillions of 223/5.56 rounds so everyone is happy.

but isn't it illegal to have a gun in russia? lack of a civilian market there is probably the biggest reason that we have so much russian ammo here

Not at all. Russians, and the Soviets are just as free as we are. There government is rigged so is ours, just most of us dont know it, or accept the massive propaganda that we are better or freer then the rest of the world.

Another lie is that the Soviets were all Atheists, and God and Church was not allowed. That was total BS, just lies to make us hate Fellow Europeans for no reason other then the rich can max out their profits.
