.22 Rifles...any suggestions?

KYE-OAT,
Sorry. I should have been more specific. The Federal and Remington ammo I mean is the bulk stuff you buy for $8.00 a brick.

My vote goes to the Rem 597. Recessed crown, synthetic stock and all that stuff for the same price as the cheapest 10/22 ($~140). And, its not a Ruger. The only down-side is you can only get Slick Willy mags for it.

Oh, another thing: EASY mag changes: You hit the magazine release with your right index finger (slide it forward) and the mag drops free, and just push a new magazine home. Then, pull back the bolt handle enough to disengage the bolt catch (about 1/4" at the most), release and you are ready to rock. You dont have to rock the mag or anything funny.

Mine makes 1" ragged holes with Rem Gold dots at 33 yards.

ATeaM, I believe the Marlin Model 60 is more accurate than the Ruger 10/22 "out of the box".

At least mine is. Noticeably.

And no one has mentioned the Romanian Model 1969 bolt guns? Very accurate (free floated barrel!) and very inexpensive ($40-$80). www.gunsnammo.com

"Out of the box which is more accurate, the Marlin or the Ruger"

Don't have a Ruger (yet). Sighting in the Marlin, right out of the box, I was getting three shot groups with overlapping holes at 25 yards.
