22 Rifle to start my sons on

Stopped by Wally World today. They had a Savage MkII. Don't know anything about it, but it was inexpensive. Can anyone tell me about this one?
 
My suggestion is the Savage/Stevens M30 falling-block single shot reincarnation of the old Stevens Favorite rifle.

A single-shot will teach your sons to USE the sights, to MAKE their shots count, and to CONSERVE their ammo.

I own one of these rifles, and it is a GREAT plinker. Quite accurate with CCI Green Tag ammo. I hope to get a few tree rats this season with it, too!:)
