22 revolver or semi-auto

how bout the ruger bearcat?

Reading these post reminded me about the little Bearcat. Always wanted one, I think that would be the perfect little 22 for camping, horseback riding (getting to old for hiking) and such.

Someday I'm gonna find one of those little suckers.

.22 revolver vs auto question the pros and cons

This is a fun topic. I love the .22 caliber. So fun and deadly
Toy like. I have tried almost every .22 handgun made, revolver
And semi auto. other guys have bits of good Information on this post.
in my experience, the best semi auto that feeds and performs
With excellence (very affordable) the smith and Wesson 22a target
Pistol with the 5.5 inch barrel. This pistol is very versatile and will cycle
Many brands of ammo. I love the convertible ruger single six revolver
It is a ton of fun (I have a three screw all original that is awesome)
You have more accuracy with a semi auto but the problem is mental.
I get squinchy when my gun jams or fails to feed eject etc.
So, what about a double action .22 revolver? Yes! This is the choice
For carry around on the desert trail or on the way to the casino.
I have had lost sleep over Trying to make little autos work 100 percent.
They never will. Trust me, here's the pearl: semi auto target
Pistol match gun for competition. .22 single six to camp and eat all ammo,
.22 double action 10 shot Taurus for carry. Thanks... Quiz

I own or have owned the following 22lrs

semi auto
Ruger MKIII
Beretta bobcat
S&W 422
Norinco Olympia TT
Colt (Umarex) 1911 (sold it)

Revolvers
S&W 617
H&R 949
Ruger LCR
NAA Mini
Ruger Single Six 5.5" (traded it)
Ruger Single Six 6.5 (Traded it)

If I could only have 1 it would be the S&W 617. Second would be a Ruger Single Six (or Ten). So I would vote revolver. The 617 made be a tad heavy for woods carry, but a 5.5" Runger Single Six/Ten would be perfect. Although I have never owned one I would think the new Ruger SP101 may be the perfect all around 22

I vote revolver as I have yet to find the 22 semi that will digest anything and everything the way a revolver will.

I have a many year supply of random 22 from shows, yard sales etc. I don't like having to buy specific ammo for a 22, that is the beauty of them, cheap, easy to find ammo. Yes I have 22 semiauto pistols, they are a training tool, they get fed the ammo they like when needed then go back on the shelf till needed again. I have 4 22 revolvers and one is always with me along with whatever ammo I am burning up that week.

For camping / hiking / bumming around my assumption would always be reliability in a variety of ammo will trump all other concerns so I would always go revolver. I like the bearcat for a small portable plinker.

I've onwed literally dozens of 22's, both revolvers and semi-auto's. They'd have all done the job you're talking about. Just pick one you like.

Seeing as how finding .22 ammo is such a crap shoot these days, I'd go with a revolver. Semis tend to be finicky with some ammo.

I have an AA upper for my Glock 26 and it's been fun, accurate and dependable with the recommended loads, CCI Mini Mags and Remington Golden Bullet. Yes, Golden Bullet.

I had a S&W Model 63 "kit gun", that in retrospect I should have held on to.
