get the ruger mkII or mkIII 5.5 inch barrel
The Ruger. IMO- One of the best .22lr semi autos ever made. Bought the stainless version in mkIII with 5.5 inch barrel about 5 months ago. Now I wonder how I ever did not start with the .22lr round. Still the cheapest so you can outlast the other guy finicky about lettin his .40 or 9mm rounds pop off. With slight use of a bore snake every half brick, i've literally shot 700+ rounds in a session up at my parents property. Sub inch groups at 25 yards/
nuked a jack at 35+/ Hit a quarter-second shot at 100 feet... though I never found where the damn piece went in all the tall grass/ the pistol eats anything and cycles even with subsonic ammo. What more is there to say.
Only downfall is the field strip, but what the heck I shoot this one the most!
What ever pistol you decide though, if its for precise target shooting- don't go with any barrel length less then 5 inches. Just not enough length of rifling for bullet stabilization. I would actually go for more than 6 inches for bench rest/ scope shooten... Kinda wish I'd gotten the Hunter 6 and 7/8 inch barrel, but I'm keepen my 5.5 barrel for the versatility and the fact it's still a tack driver- right out of the box. Happy plinken
