22 caliber rifle recommendations, please

I am surprised no one has gone to town over the SAKO .22 LR Varmint.
I have had one of these since they became available over hear and cannot fault it. From an accuracy and build point of view I would as brave to say that it would run rings around just about any other mass produced .22. Mine will shoot 20mm edge to edge 1 hole groups at 50 yds no problem all day long and thats with Eley hollow point subs! Target stuff just gets to easy with Lapua leading the way. They can be a little pricey compared to say a 10/22 but then look at the accuracy difference. It is of course horses for courses!

tictac:

The Sako .22 was a rifle I looked long and hard at when I was in the market and just about jumped in until a Cooper Arms came my way. I love Sako centerfires and think they and Weatherby are the best production rifles being made today.

My only quibble with the Sako .22 was the teeny plastic magazine that I thought looked a bit fragile (and expensive to replace as I recall). Other than that it is definitely a rifle worth having.

Agree on the magazine! I bought a 10 shot ($$$) but I find it only likes 9. This variety is steal, but as it extends beyond the receiver and stock it can take a knock or two. As the plastic 5 shot is flush fitting I have never found a problem, and I do a lot of crawling before the shot.
