I have the SR22P. Its not a target pistol. It is "paper plate" accurate at 25 yards. If you buy it, with that knowledge, then you will be happy. It has a poor trigger in DA and SA. This is comparing it to a good target pistol, like an older Ruger Mark II Target, or a Browning Buck Mark. The new S&W COMPACT M&P 22 looks promising, and is very similar in size to the SR22P. I would consider that over the full size M&P 22. It only ships with one magazine, where the SR22P ships with two.
