Do you have a 24" .243 Win to compare it to and is there a huge difference between the two?
No, I don't have a 24" .243 to compare it to. Don't really need one, I think. What I was talking about with the 20" carbine was the shorter carbine's handling in brush vs. a longer barreled rifle.
I've had and used rifles with barrel lengths ranging from 18.5" to 30" (book says 29.1"
) and am well aware of the different handling of the different size guns.
And since I don't run suppressors, needing a shorter barrel to keep the overall length within a given limit doesn't matter to me. Clearly it matters to the OP, so, I'm fine with his choices for his stuff.
An AR 10 in .243 would be cool, might be a lot of fun. Recoil would be very light. Could be a lot of fun. Could be very accurate. Wouldn't be the most practical choice for some things, but so what??? I've had, and have a lot of guns that most other people would not think are practical.
Machts Nichts!
I enjoy them, and that all that matters. A long time ago I considered getting one of Springfield Armory's M1As in .243. I love mine in .308. Never did get around to it,
We're a ways off from .22-250 now, so probably time to leave this thread. Please start a new one after you get going with your .243 AR and let us know about it!
