That sure has the looks of dangerous item.

I doubt its all that dangerous. I don't think there's going to be a lot of pressure derived from igniting one of those cartridges, if it would even ignite. heck, just shoot one without the ball bearing stuffed in it and find out. It's just an overgrown cap gun........but, do wear thick gloves and eye protection, just in case.

The gun looks to be modeled after one of the cheap pot metal Ravens or Recks.

And to the OP who said their daughter was looking for 8mm ammo for a Japanese pistol, that is an entirely different round from an 8mm blank.
