Motorcycle Gang Target of Raid
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Federal agents across the nation raided the homes of members of a motorcycle gang Friday, arresting more than two dozen people and confiscating firearms, drugs and thousands of dollars.
Members of the Mongols were arrested in Pasadena, San Diego, Porterville and Frazier Park, as well as cities in Georgia and Oklahoma, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The case was cracked after an ATF agent infiltrated the motorcycle gang and spent two years as a member.
``Our undercover agent put himself at great and prolonged peril to develop evidence of murder, weapons and narcotics violations and other serious crimes,'' said ATF Los Angeles Division Director Donald R. Kincaid.
The ATF said at least 29 Mongols were arrested in connection with violent crimes, including murder. Seventy firearms, 10 pounds of narcotics, 21 stolen motorcycles and more than $27,000 cash were seized.
The Mongols were formed in the early 1970s in Southern California. Officers say the organization has about 200 members and 21 chapters nationwide.
