1911 springfield operator, Kimber TLE, or Sig TACOPS

I had the Springfield LW operator for a short time and I could not get the gun to run reliably. Had a lot of FTRTBs with it, usually on the third magazine or so of the day. It's possible that it just didn't like 8rd magazines.

My question is, why not Colt? Judging by the pistols you listed the Colt Rail Gun is in your price range. I have one and it has been the most reliable and accurate 1911 I have ever owned.

The Corps' SF unit, the Raiders (formerly MARSOC), selected a tweaked version of this gun to be one of their sidearm options (along with the Glock 19 and Beretta M9).

It's worth at least some consideration.

I'm pretty much on line with WVSig in post 10 -- Springfield of the three mentioned by the OP -- and for the same reasons. I had a bad Kimber once and even worse customer service. I have a pre-MIM Sig 1911 which had a couple of issues but was fixed quickly by Sig. Once the former head guy at Kimber took over at Sig, Sig 1911 quality seemed to be more up and down.

The Dan Wesson or Colt would also be my recommendations if budget allows.

I have nothing against an external extractor in theory if done correctly like SW (but not like the one Kimber did). 1911 pistols attract me for (1) great ergonomics, (2) good to great triggers, depending upon manufacturer, and (3) easily obtainable parts from various sources. If you stick with a "standard" 1911, you should always be able to find parts. They may have to be fit, but you can get the parts. I mostly avoid 1911s with proprietary parts like external extractors or a special recoil system. It's the only reason I don't own a Springfield EMP.
