Think you have one of two problems.Rough barrel(solution lap or change barrels) or ammo loaded too hot for hardness of lead.(switch ammo)

We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world;
and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men
every day who don't know anything and can't read.

A word on Shooting Stars: No!

I had four of them. They worked well at first. Then the baseplates popped off two of them during reloading, leaving the follower, baseplate, spring and ammo on the ground, which could be very embarrassing at the wrong moment.

The other two won't reliably feed the last round in the mag any more, probably attributable to spring fade.

I have five Mec-Gars, no problems at all.

fridge21,
With high quality lead bullets, you should not have leading problems up to 900 fps. If you are using good bullets but exceeding 900 fps, lighten your load or shoot jacketed only. However, if it's the bullet, look into Laser Cast made by Oregon Trail. High quality lead bullets.

FWIW, a buddy and I went to a gun show recently and both of us bought 1911s. I got a 70 series govt model 1911A1. He got a 1914 version of the 1911. We shot them both the next day without cleaning or otherwise prepping the guns. Both shot without hiccup til we ran out of ammo.

What other product do you know of that EIGHTY SIX YEARS FROM NOW will work at all, let alone flawlessly?
