1911 in .22LR?

SIGSHR, how's that Ciener unit work on your Hi Power? I use his units on both a Colt Combat Commander and another on a Gold Cup as well as two Rugers of the same size with great accuracy and reliability.

OP, Ciener, Marvel, Advantage Arms units work on any of my .45 cal. 1911's but not the 9mm Series 70 Colt Gov't Model. Accuracy is outstanding on all of them including a WWll Remington-Rand. I also have a Colt made 'sliding chamber' Ace upper that will work on the Colt Gold Cup only. The others are a far better buy for the money and have given me nearly NRA Bullseye competition accuracy. Given a choice, I like the Marvel best for it's solid lock up as well as the accuracy with adj. sights.

With any of them, you've got to keep the breach face and chamber clean to get good reliability. I clean mine off every 50 round box or so and have good success. Hi-speed .22's, especially CCI Mini-Mags work the best. HP bullets, depending on manuf., might or might not feed well.

Larry1108, that's a good lookin' set up you've got there. My Ciener's both have fixed sights...but both shoot to the sights so it's not really a problem. Regards, Rod

A Browning 1911-22 is probably the best one youre going to find, the only downer is that its 85% the size of a fullsize 1911.
Ive got a Browning 1911-380, which is the same frame but in .380 instead of .22LR and its a great gun but it is smaller than a fullsize 1911. For some people, thats a deal breaker.

Rodfac-it works fine, in fact I've fired the Browning HP more with the Ciener unit than I did before. My M1911 Ciener unit works fine on my Mark IV, AMT Hardballer and Colt Combat Commander. Both units are ammunition sensitive.

Thanks Rodfac, I am totally happy with the Ciener on my Officer's frame. It is the Platinum model which comes with the adj sights and a better finish. It is very reliable and accurate as long as you keep it relatively clean and oiled as mentioned above. The bad rap Ciener got some years ago was because the old man was a SOB and had no customer skills. He has been taken out of the CS end and the product continues to be well made. I only shoot RN HV ammo in my 22s since I don't need the HP for target practice. I've had no issues with any HV ammo I've tried. Win/win for me.
