1851 Navy: Help push me over the edge.....

You can buy one direct by mail from Uberti. You can't do that with Smith and Wesson! If you could find one of the second gen. Colts, and could put out the green for it, that would be the one to have. Unless you have even more green for an original. Those two would be mostly for show. The Uberti to shoot. Some replicas seem to me to just be semi accurate copies of the original.

Push me over the edge

I've thought about getting into these pistols over the years but never made the jump, I have looked at Cabelas, nice to know they would be OK. You guys and your pictures are about to push me over the edge.

This one was made in 1862. It's a shooter.

All together now..........

JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! :D

I've got PLENTY of other C&B revolvers, but these three High Standard Griswold & Gunnisons are my only 1851 patterns. Oddly enough, all three are just a tad different - the top one has its ram screw threaded in from the opposite side of the other two, and the ram on the middle one is color case hardened, go figure.

G&Gs are on my "need to get list", as are Leech & Rigdons and Spiller & Burrs. Don't have any of them - yet :D.

It's nice to see someone else with some High Standards here. Two unusual variations, I have not seen them before. The CCH loading lever is strange, never seen that on any of the models. The counterbore on the wrong side is maybe a screw up? These parts were supplied by Uberti. I have three of the four models. Did you get the cased sets?

Don't forget the Schneider & Glassick!

All three of those were purchased used, so it's certainly possible the color case hardened lever came off another 1851 pattern sometime in the past.
