180 gr 357 for defense?

The 180-grain Winchester Partition Gold is an excellent carry round. If you are worried about overpenetration, then you have idea how this round actually performs. It is a very accurate, very effective, mild shooting round. I have no problem carrying it as my primary round. Even though the 145-grain Silvertip is my normal "24/7" round, from the first weekend in November through the third weekend in January, my revolvers are loaded with the 180-grain Partition Gold.

OVer penetration

Well at home, you might not be charged if your load overpenetrated a bunch, but what if it went thru the perp, the wall and whacked a member of your family? So you are legally off the hook, what consolation is that? I handload for my Smiths for practice, but I keep the 145 STHP load in the speedloaders for my mag. at the ready, glad to hear they are rated best. They also are pretty accurate, but cost alot.
