17 Hornet

TOU, I read the article you linked to and just about laughed out loud when I came across the .17BMT (better mouse trap). Wildcatters have a sense of humor.
That's almost as funny as the .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer wildcat cartridge.

B.L.E....yeah, I chuckled at those two as well. :)

ceILL...yep lots more available if you got the $$$$$ :o

17 hornady hornet

I think this caliber would be great in a CZ 527 Carbine, or simular bolt-actions. Hope this caliber will be a success.

I think that would be great too but will take it in any from of a CZ 527 that they offer. I would REALLY like it in the 20" barreled Full Stock!

Reloading Data

Talked to a Hornady employee last week--Was told to call back in about four weeks to get reloading data for the 17 Hornet. I have 17 HM2, 17 HMR, 17 Fireball and 17 Rem rifles so I jest as well add a Hornet to the group. I dont have a CZ brand rifle so I d like to try out a 17 Hornet CZ rifle.

So far none of the usual suspects has anything on the .17 Hornady Hornet. No dies or brass but I'm hopeful.

I'm thinking since I have to rebarrel My BSA Martini anyway, I might just go with this round...

It's close but not the same. The .17 Ackley Hornet has a different shoulder angle. It's closer to the .17 K-Hornet but I'm not sure if the shoulder position is the same. That's the great thing about this. It standardizes all these varying wildcat rounds that are almost but not quite the same.

Now if they would standardize the .22 K-Hornet so I could buy off the shelf brass... Not that it's a big problem to fire-form K-Hornet rounds, it would just be easier if I could buy them that way...
