16x scope ???

If you use a variable in the 4-16 range (as I do) and you have an opportunity to use higher power you need to be practicing all summer long finding objects and putting the scope on it. You'll find you're pretty awful at it at first but as you become more familiar with the rifle and scope it will come much easier. And it doesn't cost you a dime for ammo!

I had the same rifle scope combo for almost 20 years and it was automatic. I put a new scope on and I immediately knew I needed to get more comfortable with it. Now I'm feeling much more confident with it. And after doing this little "exercise" at high power when I drop it down to the 6X I normally use it really comes up on target nicely.

Like mentioned before, as the power increases your field of view shrinks. So, if a deer pops out at 50yrds & your scope is on 16x. your looking at a few inches.

If you've got it set on 16X when a deer "could" pop out at that short yardage (maybe a max of 100 yards) shame on you... And if are hunting an area where you could use 16X and one pops out at that short distance you must have been sleeping not to see it... :D

It's a great scope for long range shooting. Up close say 100 yards or so... you could count hairs. I have 2 scopes for my paper punching a 6 x 26 x56 and a 10 x 40 x50. The latter one is awesome for the 600 to 800 yards but once you get over 32 power things become fuzzy. I don't hunt any more so i can't say for that, but there are lots of pro's in here that will help with that.

As for "unsteadiness", you'll have the same wobble and shake at 4 power as you will at 16 power, but you may not notice it at the lower power.

Exactly
.
Emcon5 --You hit that one right on.The shake is the same just not as noticable.
IMHO- more power equals tighter groups
