OK, Ditch the yellowboy carbine and go with the REVOLVER CARBINE S.A. chambered in .45Colt from Uberti for $475.00

Since the revolver carbine is a cartridge firearm, one might as well have cartridge revolvers too, so as to share the same ammuition. So go with the Cattleman S.A. Revolvers chambered in .45LC. at $410.00 ea.

Ok, we are now at $1295.00 for the S. A. revolver carbine and the two S. A. revolvers from Uberti. That leaves out the coachgun, but one can always borrow from other Cowboy Action Shooters until they can afford their own. Just bring your own 12 ga ammo.

You can buy the used S&W M10 revolvers for under $200.

I recommend buying about seven of them for $1400. Clean 'em up and put 'em in the safe. Then sell them for a nice profit when the price jumps up.

Hmmmm. $1500 limit--what revolvers to buy? How about ONE Dan Wesson Stainless .357 "small frame" with interchangeable barrels of 21/2", 4", 6", and 10"(make that one compensated for hunting) with $$$ left over for a variety of ammo.

1) S&W M-28 4",357mag,$405.00
2) S&W M-66 2.5",357mag,$305.00
3) Rossi M-518 4",22lr,$150.00
to this i'll to add a 44mag SA/DA revolver, maybe a redhawk or 629,i've also have a S&W M-15 2",M-15 4",S&W 38/44 and a ruger security 6 4".I had to sell most of my autoloaders to purchase these revolvers but i did keep my Glock 26:D

How about 5 pairs of used Model 10's? 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 inch pairs would make for quite the little battery, and they'd all take the same speedloaders!:D

If you only got two, four, and six inch pairs you'd have more than enough left over to re-clothe them all in your choice of grips....;)

S&W 317 w/3" bbl and adjustable sights. I love my 22 Diamondback but with a $1500 budget, I have to be realistic as to what I can spend on a .22.

Ruger GP100 in 4" w/heavy bbl. Tough and built like a tank. Will sustain more abuse than any other revolver - bar none.

For my final gun, I'd like to have a DA 44 Magnum. Magnaported SuperRedHawk w/6" bbl (do they come in 6"?). I have two S&W M29s, but the Ruger is a stronger gun.

for "fun & small game shooting" Ruger Bearcat .22
Medium duty Ruger GP 100 3" or 4" .357
Heavy Duty "Hunt Gun" Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag Long barrel

I'll have to review the S&W model numbers, but include the .22 Kit Gun for "fun & small game shooting"
K-38 (?) Combat Masterpiece, 4" .357
629 Long Barrel .44 Mag for Heavy Duty "Hunt Gun"

I picked these guns & calibers for easy "off the shelf" ammo. [What good is say a .454 Casull if you have no ammo, other than as a throwing weapon] ? ? ?

Recent aquisitions:
S&W 629-5 $550
S&W 60-3 $325

an older aquisition
S&W 19-3 $250
Taurus 85CH $200

and some holsters. Can't go anywhere with out good leather.

Trio

Hmmmm....

You could get a good three gun battery for that that would handle home defense, hunting and street carry quite well.

$590 for a new S&W 629 (assuming I can't get a better deal). I would go with the standard six incher since that was the first gun I ever owned and the long tube shoots better for me.

Hmmm. $445 for a four inch model 66.

That would do for shooters. Toss in $375 I paid for my Model 60 and I still have some money left over.

Or you could look at it like this.
$325 I paid for my six inch model 629, back in the day,
$800 I paid for my stainless python
and that leaves enough for one of my other revolvers like the Colt Magnum Carry or the Anaconda.

This whole post is silly: Whoever heard of a revolver that requires batteries?

Or is this some newfangled "safety"? What happens when the batteries run down, eh? Hmmm?

Or is it one of those silly sighting systems?

I just don't get it.

YosemiteSam: Check out the WW II .38 Enfield break top revolver. They featured a sliding block safety that when engaged, prevents the hammer from rotating back.

Regarding batteries, it's a term used to denote a grouping of like guns, i.e., artillery batteries.

Now, regarding electrical batteries, those go into the laser sight like in Crimsom Trace laser sights. http://www.crimsomtrace.com/

well just blew the limit

Not including the extra spare parts, thats another $100 S&W 686 6" ported stainless .357 $400 used, S&W 25-2 .45 acp pin gun $1200 used, S&W 640-1 .357 stainless 2" $400 new

4V50 Gary: 'Twas a joke. I'm fully aware of the other definitions of "battery", I assure you. Didn't include enough smilies with the original, I guess.

-- Sam (returning to battery :))

I've ignored this post for a while but a thought came while looking at you all's comments.

If I had $1500 and was required to spend it on revolvers (can't imagine why that would be, but this is in fun so OK) I'd buy a 1st or 2nd Generation Colt SAA or one of the US Firearms Manufacturing Co. Pre-War models. Blue and case colors, 45 Colt chambering, 4.75" barrel. One piece wood or hard rubber grips.

Ruger Super Blackhawk 4 5/8" 44 Magnum
Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8" .357 Magnum/9mm
Ruger Super Single Six 5 1/2" .22 LR/.22 Magnum

3 guns/5 calibers. Dennis

Hey! How about this set......

A Walker Colt replica,
A brace(or two) of '51 Navy replicas,
And a Pocket Ploice replica.

Prol'y be less than a grand, leaves enough for accessorizing....
anyone else like Outlaw Josie Wales?
