No, not the Energizer bunny......

With a $1500 limit, what 3 revolvers would you choose?

Most gun for the $$$$$$

My 3 gun battery of revolvers would be:

Smith Model 27 3 1/2 inch blued...beauty IS the beast.

Smith 686 plus with 4 inch barrel....."How many shots was that?............... Do you feel lucky punk?"

Ruger SP101 2 incher. Controllable, concealable and built like a tank.

I think the $1500 limit makes it interesting. No extra fancy stuff.

Edited.....changed to 3.

Ok, I'll bite. I am not really sure about the prices but I think that I could fit this in under the cap. I know I paid considerably less than $1500 for mine, but some of them were killer deals and/or deals made years ago.

Ruger Super Blackhawk stainless, 7 1/2". I for one have to have a big bore. And need something for handgun hunting.
Ruger GP-100 4" stainless. To me, the perfect belt gun.
S&W Model 28 4" Because I love classic Smiths.
S&W Model 17 6" You have to have a .22 in there somewhere.

Nice selctions. I'm thinking more about TODAY's prices. I think your Model 17 put you over the top :)

Who cares? It's all for fun anyway...........

Maybe it will be better if we just pick 3......I'll edit the above.

With New Zealand prices, that would be enough for 1 NIB S&W 686 and some ammunition.

Assuming in the U.S. though.
1/Dan Wesson .460 Rowland Options, lots of options :}
2/Taurus .22Magnum Already have a Rifle in this caliber.
3/ Taurus .45 Colt Tracker, Have to buy a long barrelled cousin, so it wouldn't feel lonely.

I bought a used 17 for $275 last year. Paid $325 for a Model 18 NIB. Colt Python 4" blue for $600. That`s $1200. Substitute one of the .22s for a Model 19, figure $325 and the Python for a Model 28, $450 and you got $1050-$1100. The prices are subjective and are for used guns. Your Ruger pick or whatever shouldn`t alter the price much so you have some money left over for ammo.

Ruger Redhawk 44Mag SS 5.5" Barrel
Ruger GP-100 357/38 SS 6" Barrel
Colt Diamond 38 4" Barrel But I couldn't stop there look the Colts little Bro, a Python, "Rare Two Inch 357", guess that could be one of the wifes 3.

I'll play,

1) Rossi 988 Cyclops, NIB $425, must find the 8 inch barrel, my holy grail.

2) Navy Arms New Model Russian, $745.

(Dang, it's harder to narrow it down to only 3 than I thought it would be. And I'm running low on funds, only $330 left)

3)Taurus 941, $345 (someone loan me $15) just because I've never had a 22mag before.

1. Ruger KSRH-7 44mag 2x scope shoulder rig - deer hunting

2.Ruger KGP-141 357mag shoulder rig & flap holster-homestead gun

3. Ruger KSP-331x or KSP-831x and holster - concealed carry

1&2 are in the safe #3 is latter this year, maybe by then Ohio will have a carry law :) Oh and I should make it under $1500. ;)

S&W .45 Colt Mountain Gun, Houge king wood mongrip

SP101.jpg

Weigland Combat "Tame the Beast" conversion of the Ruger SP101 .357 Mag. with Houge coco bolo monogrip

Model 27 with a 4 inch barrel.

Model 29 with a 6 inch barrel.

And any one of a mulitude of 9-10 shot 22lr. revolvers.

I buy used most of the time so I'll go with that and just worry about the money part,

4" S/W Model 19 $350

2 1/8" S/W Model 640 (357 model) $350

4" Model 29 $450

6" Model 17 $350

I might have to kick in a little of mine for taxes and transfers, but bet I could make it under the wire, and be happy for some time with them. Of course once I got buying grips and holsters I'd go waaaay over.

I'm thinking one J-frame and 2 larger guns.

S&W Model 60 - 400 bucks (but for the 1500 limit, I'd have picked a titanium or scandium)

Colt Python - I paid 675 for mine.

Colt Anaconda - I think I paid about 450 a few years ago.

Note: If with price fluctuations I couldn't get this amount under 1500, I'd axe the python in favor of a 686 (just paid 370 for mine, NIB, made in 1985), and upgrade the J-frame to a lighter model.
