10mm Glock 29

I just got a 29 and honestly it feels like my other Glocks. I'm kinda relieved, I was concerned about some monster recoil.
It's on my short list of guns I'll never sell.

I completely agree. The recoil is quite manageable and the gun is incredibly accurate. In fact, I'm most accurate with my G29 as compared to my other Glocks.

The recoil does differ noticeably depending upon the bullet selection, but it's easily absorbed regardless. I haven't shot heavier than 200 gr. DT, but I don't know that I'd need to.

I'm currently carrying DT's 165 gr. Defense load, but also have the 135 gr. controlled expansion, which is probably better for home defense and certainly plenty for EDC.

I'm interested in checking out a 29 myself. I love the 10mm round and while I'm not a Glock fan boy I really like the Glock 20. If the 29 is similar but smaller I think I'd be compelled to buy one of those too. :)

I also was hesitant to go to Glock. My first was a 27.
It was too short in the grip, but with mag finger extension is a very nice CC pistol... when I tried the Glock 29, it was perfect! Grip was long enough to hold properly without any mag additions. 10mm was a healthy step up in performance too.
But beware! These caused a "need" for a 23 and now a 20 with a festering itch for a model 40!

I've been shooting full-power 10 mm loads out of my 20 sf for a while--you guys mean to say there's little difference in felt recoil between a 20 and 29? That would be remarkable. Although it's much bigger--I've already decided my next 10 is going to be a 6" barreled 1911 style hunter.

i picked one up for a woodsgun during bow season (black bears) a couple of years ago. Put the extended barrel on like some of the other posters did. Overall i like it, shooting regular 10mm rounds it doesnt feel any different to me than my g27....shooting hotter buffalo rounds that i carry in it, definitely a handful. For a woodsgun its great, but if its for everyday carry i think id move towards one of the smaller glocks for ease of carry.

bongo, that trigger guard looks nice. Starting to get some ideas now for my Glocks.

When I got my hands on a slightly used G29 SF, it just had to follow me home.

Thanks--very nice of you to say. Just a few minutes' work and that polymer buffs out easily and is easy to get a matte surface on.

I find it tough to compare the 'feel' of gun to someone else--I just don't have good words that would mean anything to someone else, I don't think. But, in comparing the G20 to the G29, there are a couple of factors that make the 20 feel a bit 'spongier' or 'cushier', and, from a full mag, at least, you've got a good bit of extra mass in 20 and of course, more of it hanging out front.

But it's probably the grip that has more to do with feel than the weight even. Despite my average sized hands with what I think are fairly stubby fingers, I feel the little 29 is in my hands and I'm in control of it (if I hold on with a substantial vice grip with that weak hand). The 20 just never feels all that great to me, and in fact I seldom choose to shoot it. It's 'okay'. Could be that, because it's a full size gun, it doesn't actually serve any real purpose for me except for a nightstand gun, so I prefer to practice with my carry. When I just want a gun that feels wonderful, shoots wonderful and puts a smile on my face and I want to shoot for no other purpose, then in 10mm I choose the Tanfo Hunter.

I could part rather easily with the 20, but the 29 would have to be replaced with its equal or better, and I don't see one of those in the pipeline.
