10mm gel test: Liberty 60 gr Fragmenting Monolithic Copper Hollow Point

With aluminum cases it would lighten the carry load, perhaps noticable in a high cap, but if your carrying a 10mm I doubt weight is a big priority.

No matter what... I bet that stuff would mess some one up pretty good.

In the good old days, when smoking was allowed on commercial flights, the aviation mechanics found minute leaks by looking for nicotine stains on the outside of the fuselage.

The smoke would seep out around the outer panel rivets leaving a little elongated "V" shaped stain on the paint behind the rivet.

On two instances lately I have had gun store guys try to sell me this stuff. Both were in full hard-sell BS mode. The first guy actually pretended that the ammo was somehow restricted to law-enforcement/commando/ninja sales only, but that he's make a special exception for me.

I'm worn out on this nonsense with all these "exotic" bullets. I don't believe that much has changed since the jacketed lead hollow point was invented.

I think the whole Liberty sales pitch is a bunch of BS made to impress 12 year olds and people who know nothing about guns or ballistics.

JHP bullets have improved substantially, offering significantly better reliability through clothing and other barriers and more consistent expansion and penetration.

Nothing wrong with innovators. We wouldn't make much progress without them. Consumers just need to be skeptical about buying innovations until they are proven, whether they be technical or societal, as most innovations don't work out or just downright fail.

Most of those advancements are approaching 20-30 years old.

That's certainly true. The most recent innovation in handgun projectiles that actually performs well is the solid copper hollow point (like the TAC-XP) and that's not much newer than the Gold Dot and HST.

Right.
I think Barnes started with those in the late 80's
