10mm choices???

I agree with GLK about the S&W 610. It's an"N" frame model, just as the .44 Mag. model 629 is. Full power loads are not a problem...you will hurt yourself before you hurt a 610. The ability to shoot .40 S&W is a huge plus, and some owners will ream out the cylinder to accept 10 mm Magnum. The current prices are of course a deterrent to owning one. It's too bad that S&W doesn't have the smarts to produce them again.
The G 20 SF is for factory loads, the 610 is for anything. A S&W 1006 is being shipped my way (had to trade a nice 617 for it), can't wait!! I would like to get my hands on that Ruger Buckeye.

I am a fan of the 10mm and I use the S&W 1076 & 1006 as my go to platforms. Its funny because it was almost a fluke when I started off, I was hitting a local pawnshop I stop in from time to time and saw what I thought was going to be a S&W 45 and when I asked to see it I found out it was a 1076. I went ahead because the price was verry good and figured if I really didn'y like it I could send it on down the road easily, well it ended up being a keeper and is going nowhere.

Count me in as another, with an EAA Witness, that I'm happy with...

I went in, with every intention of buying my 1st plastic gun ( the Glock ) but I just couldn't make myself do it... the grip just totally put me off, & the Witness was nearly 1/2 the price & not plastic ( I hadn't fully resolved my plastic issues at that point ) I'm sure the Glock is an excellent weapon but that grip would take a lot of getting used to... the Witness is very CZ feeling, & I do love my CZ's the grip feels much nicer to me...

BTW... I also have a S&W 610 revolver, & as a hand loader... I much prefer the revolver format...

I have the glock 20c and like it a lot. Very accurate. I'm very intrigued with the sig p220 though. Msrp looks like $12-1400 depending on model, so not sure if thaaaat much cooler than Glock, but maybe.

In California, you have three choices: Glocks 20 & 29 (Gen 3); and a Kimber full size 1911. I'm no Glockhead, but I'm a big fan of the 10mm Auto cartridge.

A Glock 20 occupies my nightstand.
A Glock 29 occupies my waistband.

I got the gen3 SF--while the double spring and replaceable back strap fittings on the gen 4 are nice I can live without them--the most important thing for me was the 4.6" barrel. What's interesting is Glock's website rates the energy at 550 ftlbs--but the owner's manual says 750--the most powerful of all the Glocks. Paid $560 at the LGS. Just discovered it's missing cleaning rod and patch holder--no biggie. I'll try to get out tomorrow for some shooting but it's in the teens here so accuracy is something I am not to hopeful about.

I don't think the Gen 3's have the dual recoil spring or the interchangeable backstraps. Pretty sure you have a Gen4. The Gen 4 frame with no backstraps inserted is the same size as the gen3 SF...

Thanx precision--just cleaned her out and all looks good ready to go to the range--just have to screw up the courage to go shoot in the cold--the problem with all my handguns is that the trigger guards are so small have to shoot bare-handed--gloves risk AD's.

Don't mean to hijack tennis' thread here--but anyone here experienced reloading for this gun--do you do any kind of crimp at all--I'm assuming a slight taper crimp and that's it?

That question will probably get more attention in the Handloading forum down below.

I haven't yet started loading for 10mm, but plan to add it in the mix of other calibers I load for in the near future.

I have a few 10mm pistols.

This is a Rock Island. I had some issues at first (over sized bore), but a trip back to Armscor for a new barrel fixed it right up.

I had it Cerokoted in Midnight Blue and had it BOBed. Runs great, shoot great and very accurate.

This is my DW CBOB. I purchased this on Gunbroker and it was a mess. I sent it off to Severns Custom and Dave did a great job bringing it back to life. This is a great pistol and runs great and is very accurate as well. Unlike the RI it is a little picky about Mags, so I keep it's mags separate.

This is my EAA Elite Match. This was my first 10mm. It is amazingly accurate and runs flawlessly. That is if I don't stuff the mag with 14 and only run 12.

After following this thread for awhile, it seems to me that the popularity of 10mm is really on the rise. There seems to be quite a bit of interest by consumers in 10mm, and certainly a fair number of options offered by a variety of manufacturers. Has anyone else noticed this trend in popularity?

I kinda view it as the opposite--it's not so much that 10mm is becoming more popular as it is shooters are gradually realizing the "undiscovered" performance advantages of the 10mm over the vastly more popular 45acp and 40 S&W that overshadow the 10mm. The same phenomenon exists in the revolver world for the 41 mag which sits between the 357 and 44 mags but is totally overshadowed (unjustly IMO). My less than 2 cents : )
