10mm - Any Good Ones?

first choice, without a doubt Glock 20.
Case bulging? HA! Never even HEARD of 10mm case bulging in a Glock, and I've seen some really hot 10mm go through a glock or two.

Second choice would be the EAA Witness (Tanfoglio). To bad there are no hi-cap mags availible.

Third would be an AMT Javelina. Stainless Steel, 6" longslide. Yeah, AMT 1911A1 types generally suck, but once you get it running right...wow.

After those, probably the Colt Delta Elite or Match 10; and then the Smith. I can't afford a Bren 10, much less the mags. Jeff, where did you hear they're gonna start making Brens again? Whos doing it?

Peter M. Eick -- A great trigger on a Witness? I thought they went to great pains to ensure that all Witness triggers were horrible. Did you have someone work on it for you, or did one accidentally escape the factory that way? (Otherwise I think Witnesses are fine guns. A stainless 10mm would be fantastic.)

Jeff OTMG -- Bren Tens? Next year?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

To all the Bren Ten lovers:

I gave a series of reports when I attended the SHOT Show last January in Las Vegas. Below is the Triton excerpt from the report and a link to the 'SHOT SHOW DAY THREE' thread if you are interested in other things. There are also threads for day 1 and day 2 amoung others.

Triton - In response to questions and comments on other threads regarding the Bren X I spoke to Fernando today. I am a Bren X fan and have an original, I feel like it is the 10mm to have if you are going to shoot a 10mm. Fernando is well into getting set up to produce it. The pistol will most likey be introduced in its pre-production form at the SHOT Show next year. The tooling has been acquired and he is hoping for availablility by summer 2001. He has a concern that the demand may not be there for the pistol except for old Bren X owners. I told Fernando that I did not believe that to be the case. I think there would be great demand. Did I forget to mention that it will retail for around $900!!!! He is working on improving some design flaws in the original and should be a great gun. If you are interested in purchasing one of these beauties I suggest you email Triton to express interest so it will be produced. M/D Enterprises will be the custom holster maker for the new Bren X, so if you buy one it won't have to sit in the gun case, you will be able use it as a concealed carry piece.

Fernando (don't know how to spell his last name) is the owner of Triton Ammunition Co. and was in the process of acquiring the remaining intellectual property for the pistol. The re-engineering that I mention includes doing away with the old style bushing. The advancements in CAD/CAM technology and CNC machinery has come a long way in the last 17 or 18 years when the original was introduced which will make this pistol much easier to produce.

This will be at least the fourth attempt that I know of to produce the Bren in some version. Looks like somebody would catch a clue about this project.

I suspect many of the old Bren Ten owners who are enthusiastic about this project are mainly hoping that they might be able to get magazines if someone really starts making the gun.

My prediction: We'll see Bren Tens on the shelf the same day that the dealers get their shipments of Ruger XGIs and High Standard Crusaders.

I`ve always loved Bren Xs but why would you pay $900 (!!!) for one when a 10mm Witness is almost exactly the same thing for $350? Marcus

David,

Mine must be a fluke because it is smoooooth in DA mode without a hitch or break. In SA mode it is crisp just like eating fresh carrots. It just snaps!

I did not realize all witness's are this way. I guess that is what happens when you only have one.

By the way as a comparison I usually use a Les Baer Premier II 45 for my standard target gun and a SIG p229 sport as my standard DA gun.

P229 Sport and 357 SIG, H&K P7PSP and 9MM, Dual Perfection!!

Peter, I've only owned a .45 Witness but I've fired a couple of them in 9mm and a couple in .40. The triggers on all of them sucked in a major way. Which is too bad, because I actually like everything else about the Witness.

Maybe they've done the 10mm version right. Hmm, something to look for at the next gun show...

Marcus, because it is the real deal. Remember the old commercials on TV, which would you rather have a Mercedes-Benz or a Ford Granada? A real SIG P228 or a DAC-394? A Series 70 Colt Govt or a Norinco 1911A1? Besides, Sonny Crockett didn't carry a Witness.

ahhhh...it warms my heart to see the 10mm get such a good response. i haven't been on the net for a bit so i'm catching up. the Glock 20 and G29 r very good 10mms.

anther 10mm hangun still in production r the EAA 10mm Witness, in Standard and Compact versions, but i do not believe that a polymer version exists for sale in 10mm. i have yet to see or hear that the Carry Comp version has been imported from Italy.

the 1911 style 10mms r also great guns for the 10mm, but u should make sure u have heavier recoil springs...start at about 24lbs.

the S&W 10mms, either semiauto or revolver, r very good 10mms. they will serve u well. they r rather large though.

if u look on the used market, there r a number of 10mm handguns out there and u can find out more by visiting my 10mm page on the link below.

hope this helps!

I spoke to Triton today about the Bren X project.

It is still being worked on. Much re-engineering still must be done to get it into production. Please understand that the process used to make the pistol is going to be different now. This is going to be a VERY expensive undertaking and so long as it is a cost effective venture, ie Fernando can produce the gun at a price that it will sell and make a profit, it will be done. It may still be prototyped and presented at the SHOT Show in New Orleans in January 2001, but production is still not expected to begin prior to the summer of 2001. The way many guns are introduced that could mean a January 2002 release date if you ask me. To all the Bren fans, officially it is an ongoing project, work is being done, some intellectual property still must be acquired, but for now it is a go and on schedule.

Hahahah, I was just reading this thread "Aside from 1911's and Glock's what else is there?" "I like the Glock 20", "Colt Delta Elite is good" Let me see, a Glock 20 is made by Glock, and a Colt Delta Elite is a 1911 style so are AMT 1911A1's, and Springfield OMEGA's! :) But I know nothing abot the 10mm so somebody shut me up!
