10m Air Pistol, anyone?

If my eyesight were better, I'd love to try 10-meter competition, but at 50-something, my eyes just aren't what they used to be... maybe we need an online league for, er, grown-ups?

Don't let middle age stop you, just get a pair of shooting glasses with a prescription that puts the front sight into perfect focus. I did that at 44...and should have done so five years earlier.

Try Dr. Alan Toler, at www.customsightpicture.com

This is the next thing to explore. I've been fortunate that at 46, I'm just now to the point where glasses are helpful (but not necessary) for reading. I still don't shoot with prescription lenses, but I'm finding my eye begins to fatigue and has trouble keeping a good sight picture. I've looked at customsightpicture before and considered it. Maybe time to re-visit the sight.

Why buy real guns when you can buy air guns for the same price!!! They are more politically correct according to the democrats!!!

A less expensive alternative to the LP 5/50 or FWB's is the Drulov DU-10 (http://www.topgun-airguns.com/czpistolrifles1.html). These aren't as precise as a Steyr or FWB, and don't have the same build and finish quality, but they're still very accurate and much less expensive.

But one nice thing about the high-end APs is that they tend to hold their value. I've bought and sold a few used match AP's and have always been able to sell them for about what I'd paid for them. I'd actually made a small profit on the LP-5 I'd mentioned in my previous post.

Actually, a high end air pistol will cost you substantially more than most of the pistols discussed in these fora. For example, the Steyr LP50 is listed at $1995.00 at Champions Choice.
When I bought my FWB C10 years ago, it was (and remains) the most expensive stock pistol that I own.

True, but the cost of a top-end AP is very comparable to a top-end target pistol. And both are well worth the price of admission.

Even the not-so-high-end ones... going by current prices, I could probably sell my IZH at a bit of a profit. But why on earth would I ever want to sell it??

FlyFish, that Lewis and Clark link is fascinating. I had NO idea the technology went back that far. I take it there's an air chamber in the stock, and some sort of external pump? It's not obvious from the diagram on that page -- at least not to me... :o
