Historical footnote;

Read an account of a settler in a border area of the US pre 1900.

Seems he had set up house with a female acqaintance of a south of the border criminal type. Said bandido rode up at the dwelling they were in and started shouting his intentions to rectify situation, gringo let loose with a double barrel 10 gauge through the front door (no mention of load or shot).

End result: shot column killed both rider and the horse after going through the wooden plank front door.

There were reasons why people back then had better manners than today.

RezMan thats agreat story! and Jim i feel for you sir! im a recoil addict though, so i think im goin to have to get my hands ona 10 gauge :D

Freak... Since you are admittedly a pain junkie...:D Load you up some max powder and payload shells and let 'er rip! Heck maybe you may like the recoil while resting the butt stock 'gainst yer nads and bustin' one off like the kids do when they been testin' the locks on daddy's liquor cabinet.:eek:

Jimster:

Hey, I get it that it was "frozen." But, I think you missed the point. Arkansas is a bit lush for "tundra" as in nothing taller than above the ankles.....

Great stories. I bought 3 Browning 10 ga chokes at a closeout sale for like $10.00 total. No real need as I don't yet own a BPS in 10 ga, but what a deal! I have a 12 and 20 and the BPS is a great shotgun. The 20 is from the year when Browning put the gold coloring in the scroll and always gets compliments at the club. Having read these stories, I feel affirmed that getting the 10 (for purposes of making a complete set) will be lotto-ticket-winner kind of purchase. In fact there was one at the latest gun show and I got to 'swing it around' for free. It was definitely a 'pumping iron' experience.

Your Browning 10ga chokes will also fit a NEF Parder single shot (these are quite inexpensive, mine was $185 brand new). I was actually suprised that the recoil of my NEF 10ga was no worse than it was after hearing all the horror stories, my dad's (now sold) Mossberg 835 12ga with 3 1/2" #4 Buck was much, much worse.
