<$100 handguns.

I still think your return on investment would increase dramatically if you could find a way to bump it up to $250 or so. If not here are some recommendations.
have bought 2 guns in the last couple of years for $100 or less and I am happy with both.

A used NAA mini 22lr ($99)
A Spanish copy of a Colt vest pocket $25acp ($70)

Also look at a used Heritage Rough Rider revolver in 22lr/22mag. They can be found new for under $200 so maybe you could find one used at your price point.

Do you need a permit for a Co2 pellet gun? That might be the only handgun in your price range.

If you were interested in buying a long gun, a used single shot shotgun or .22 rifle might be found at that price.

I have a crappy old Phoenix Raven .25 acp that I keep in the center console in my car, kind of like a couple shot derringer if you will. It does shoot, doesn't really malfunction, not good for anything but close up, but I have had people decide they didn't feel like messing with me when they saw me take it out. I bought it in the 90's for like $40 bucks, if there are any left that didn't get turned in for the "cash for guns" things, you might find one. I wouldn't pay much more than $15 or $20 bucks for one though.

The only thing that comes to mind are some of the OLD H&R or Iver Johnson revolvers, but even they are around $125 to $150. Then you got the shipping & transfer fee... I don't think it is happening for $100.

I would recommend getting one of the used S&W 915 police trades out there. You can get one for right around $250 when all is said and done...AND you'll have a quality weapon. They don't call 'em the poor-man's Sig (one of several make/models that are referred to as such) for nothing...

Just got a new catalog in the mail from CDNN. Nothing at the $100 price point, but some "real" guns that are shootable if you acn bump the budget a bit. Staying under $300:

Taurus M85 in .38 Special -- $289 stainless, $279 blued

Taurus .327 Magnum -- $249 stainless, $229 DuoTone (blue frame, stsinless cylinder)

Taurus 651 "CIA" -- .357 Magnum, stainless $299

Taurus PT22 or PT25 -- $189

Taurus PT138 Millenium Pro (.380) -- $289 DuoTone, $279 black

Kel-Tec P-II 9mm -- $229

Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm -- $229

Kel-Tec P-3AT (.380) -- $209

They have a few others for under $300, too, but (to continue flogging the poor, dead horse) I just don't think you'll find much that's shootable for $100 or under.

Almost forgot -- there's also the Armscor M200/M206 series, which should be selling for between $200 and $250. Discussed here: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=457511&highlight=armscor

Not Doable IMO

I am not adding much to what others haven't already posted (nothing for <$100 new and even used it's a massive stretch). The Hi Point is a great rec. for the gun/value category and would be my personal pick. However, for $126 OTD you can get (debatably the best "value" mouse-gun" available) a Phoenix HP25A in.25ACP (or HP22lr for a tad more). I have a relatively speaking (I always qualify that when compared to some of you maniacs ;) ) decent gun collection with a little less than a third of that being mouse-guns and my little Phoenix is a cosistent perofrmer with any ammo which is actually more than I can say for some of my more expensive mouse-guns.

Leinad single barrel .410 "derringer"

dont mess with the doubles.

$75-100. I want one.

I second bumping up to $200 though, Naa's, Taurus PT series, hi-points, old beat up pocket berretas, old not so beat up AMT backups, middle quality .22 revolvers up the whazoo.

A taurus PT-25 PLY will probably be my next pistol purchase. A metal .22 might serve you better. Or vice versa.

The Nagant revolver is a no brainer too.

Good thread.

I have seen a used 9mm Hi-point selling for $99 at the pawn shop. You can get a new Hi-point .45 acp new for $150 +/- it is bulky, ugly and cheap but it shoots good.

@tech4061...yes i do need a permit for air handguns. they also count towards 1 gun a month.

Everyone, I appreciete the help but I'm very well aware of whats out there in the 2-300 dollar range. I'm just looking for what everyone has come across in their LGS for $100

I have not seen any other than the Nagant for under $100. Though I have seen a couple of H&R top break models in .32 S&W Long, and .38 S&W for around $159. Most are decent shape, and shot very little. They make decent once in a blue moon at the range guns.

The older Saturday Night Specials, usually in .25 Auto. Some times I see one in .22 LR. Those are usually $75-$150. The Mosin revolvers are uncommon here, seen one at a pawn shop for $150 here. The H&R .32s are around $100-$150. My dad bought one for $125 once, most inaccurate gun in existence. A used Hi Point is pointless, everytime I see them used people want new price for them. I do have an RG .22 LR and I love it. I got it in well used condition, and have shot it a few hundred times. No problems of any kind, accurate too. Lorcins are decent too, I've heard quality is hit and miss. My dad traded $20 worth of chickens for one, nice little .380.

I saw a "nice" for lack of a better word, RG-22, revolver, at my LGS during the summer. It looked unfired. I had wanted one back when I was younger, because it was cheap and I could imagine being able to afford it. Even then I was under no illusion that it was "as good as" anything else, but it was better than nothing. They were $29.95 back then, but I never had $29.95. The LGS was asking $79.95 for the one they had. I could have probably gotten it for $50.00.

I was tempted, mostly just for grins and giggles, but it didn't have the box and papers ;) so I passed on it.

As a former NJ resident, I know the pain of one hand gun a month, Firearms ID card, pistol permit madness. I also know that anything under $100 each is suitable for a non-shootable collection, a paperweight, etc.

I used to save my money towards an end goal, say $600, and halfway to three quarters there, apply for a permit or three or five. Before the one a month lunacy of course. In the long run, quality pays for itself. My Rugers, Smiths and the like were better designed and executed machines than any $100 throwaway.

Get out while you can!

I also think you need to bump it up a little. I bought a slightly used but like new Hi-Point C9 for $125 and a new Phoenix HP-22A for $150 (the only one I cold find. Several shops said they sold them for $129 but none of them had had one for months due to backordes).
