Zumbo article has now been read into the Congressional Record

I'd make a lot of grandmothers very mad if i said what i was thinking right now. Honestly, it doesnt suprise me that this happend. What can we do about it? How can we prevent them from taking them away again? I remeber the last asault weapon ban well... I sure as heck dont want to live through another one. And if they do make a second one.. you can belive it will be permanent. Just another step closer to a facist state.

Somewhere in Wyoming, Mr. Zumbo is cleaning TP off the roof of his log cabin.

I wonder what the local gun store dealer does with him. I mean, I've heard of dealers boycotting Ruger, or S&W. Can you boycott Zumbo?

Hunting Big Game, and things Zumbo went for left out hundreds of thousands of we firearms owners and hunters, collectors, mil surp, and a host of other gun interests. I dig the big game hunts, foreign or domestic, waterfowl, all of it, can't afford some things. The big 2nd Amendment covers us all.

The antis are looking at every little chink in our armor and their eyesight is marvelous and their aim good , Join the NRA today....

Actually, Zumbo made a much-touted appearance at Ted Nugent's online forum, after which Nugent declared him one of us again -- fully reformed, converted, and passionate to defend the Second Amendment for more than just hunting.

Good for Ted Nugent. We may be able to forgive Zumbo if he truely attones to the best of his abilities but he will never be able to repair the damage. The man could seel all his worldly possesions and donate it to Pro2A causes, then spend the rest of his life fighting for the cause and still not make up for the damage he has done.

I may forgive the man, but never the deed.

The only way I'll forgive Ted for forgiving Zumbo would be to see Ted giving Zumbo a 10 minute head start while Ted hunts him down with an assault rifle!!! :)

Maybe Zumbo should appear and do the deed. "Our side" should not have to clean up his droppings given his claims of apology.

Having a person that waffles back and forth in such a public fashion doesn't exactly lend confidence to anything he says. He saw the light once as a big name gun person and denounced evil black assault rifles. That got folks' attention. Seeing the light again and proclaiming them okeydokey just makes him seem like a flake. Why? Lack of credibility.

The humor in all of this is that if it weren't for the tremendous outcry by bloggers and message forums, Zumbo's posting probably would have passed under the rader.

What did WA say? Sometimes gun nuts are their own worst enemies.

Who cares whats in the Congressional Record...

The tremendous outcry that was his demise shows that we are divided, and that's a good thing. People like Jim Zumbo had been living in their elitist little sphere where they could care less about the common gun owner. The fact that we are willing and able to police ourselves shows great unity and pushes the elitist view to the Brady's side, where it should be.

His apology, I didn't see an apology, I saw a vague attempt to keep his high paying sponsors paying the bill for his lifestyle and views. What he needs to do if he want repatriation into the gun owning society is to PUBLICLY denounce the Brady Campaign, any and all 2nd amendment infringements, and to do this in a high profile capacity that would really get some attention from both sides, not some internet blog. I'm talking national TV, hell, if he was on Glenn Beck, he might get some attention and I would be listening.

I have no sympathy for the man, his elitist thoughts and actions put him where he is, both high and low, and he's responsible for his own rehabilitation back into the gun owners world.

Have a great Kenpo day

It sure meant something in '94.

Exactly on point. Too many shooters are inamoured only with THEIR corner of the sport. AND YES I KNOW THAT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IS NOT ABOUT SPORT!!!! Now that that's clear to all... I've run into way too may people who feel that if their area is left alone the're fine with infringment of someone else's Right. Shotgunners who dislike pistols, hunters who hate AR/AK/whatever, IPSC who couldn't care less about Cowboy and SASS, Bullseye shooter who distaine IDPA shooting. We are great at throwing our own under the train as long as our own type is "safe". Zumbo threw every military style shooter under the train in his distaine of the TYPE of arm. Arrogance and a precieved superiority of ethics lead him to his fall, and I hope that it hurt... a lot.

If the IDPA/IPSC shooters do not stand up against the anti-hunting forces; if the Sporting Clay shooters do not stand up against the anti-"assault weapons" crowd; if the Bullseye shooters do not stand up against the groups trying to limit the magazine capacity; if the hunters do not stand up against the forces trying keep the Gun Ban alive in DC we are ALL doomed in the end. Allowing any style of shooting or type of firearm to be taken away will only embolden our enemies and they will continue to attack and demonize us.

Ben Franklin said it best... "Gentlemen, we MUST hang together, for if we fail we shall surely hang separately"

I now yield the soap box.
