Zarqawi dead?

From the AP:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces sealed off a house in the northern city of Mosul where eight suspected al-Qaida members died in a gunfight — some by their own hand to avoid capture. A U.S. official said Sunday that efforts were under way to determine if terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was among the dead.

wouldn't suprise me if someone dropped a dime on this mad dog.

"If true, bad news for the Democrats and liberal media."

Silver Bullet, that's certainly true!

But when you stop to think about it -- what a terrible truth.

Listened to Matt Drudge's radio show on the way home - apparently still no confirmation...

So - here's to hoping I can say "good riddance" sooner than later!

Actually, no, that would not be bad news. Many on the left want people like this removed from operation as much as those on the right, contrary to what the latter thinks. Opposition to the war doesn't necessarily translate into opposition to success against bona fide terrorists.

I imagine these things take quite some doing to confirm, so it may be a while.

^^^ You're obviously not part of the mainstream left who thinks we need to give up, pull out, and stop any war regardless of the fact that 3,000 Americans were murdered some 4 years ago by Al-Qaeda.

That would be a mixed blessing for the US efforts in Iraq. I almost view Zarqawi as so filled with murderous hate that he has lost all sense of reason (if he ever had it). His actions will cause him to lose the fight in Iraq similar to how we lost the Viet Nam war. You cannot as a guerilla force target the population and the infrastructure and expect support of the population that your force is dependent on. The intercepted memo instructing him to stop targeting the Arab populace has gone largely ignored. The release of the communiqué terming the Jordon bombing a mistake is an attempt to reduce the outrage of the Jordanian people. If I were a commander I would smoke him or better yet turn him over to be killed by coalition forces.
