Yugo SKS Stuck Gas Valve

The gas valve on my Yugo SKS is stuck and I've tried everything to free it up. Four different penetrating oils including Kroil and PB Blaster, heat, as much pressure as I can apply. I think it might be a carbon thing and not rust, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas?

This may be one of those things that has to be examined to be understood. If it is really carbon, get some SLIP 2000 Carbon Killer. It actually softens the carbon cake. Try a soak in that. Gunzilla is also supposed to soften carbon and it leaves a lubricated surface behind.

had the same problem as you with gas valve. i tried alot of penetrating oils and nothing worked. the handle of a fixed blade knife seemed to work good to tap it into place.

Its stuck in the fire position not the grenade position. But the gas system is unreliable right now and I wanted to replace the gas valve.

Awwwwww darn, they're more fun when stuck in the grenade position!!!!;)
I have dealt with several of them, whomp them in place with a piece of brass and a good beater. Then take it off and put a good one on it.
We have used all kinds of solvents and everything to free one up.
A mallet and a piece of brass to beat on will have it working your way.
Hey. you're going to replace it anyway!
