Needs some advise. I have no experience with the AK's other than doing quite a bit of research on the net. I dont want to break the bank, but i still want to get a quality rifle. I pretty much had my mind made up that I wanted a Yugo. Seems like most say they are built like a tank. I also found a polish model 1960 with the milled receiver. The best price I found on the Yugo was $479 with 2 mags. It's the synthetic underfolder. I really like the wood handguard so that would be changed out. Now I found a Polish model 1960, wood stock and handguard and milled receiver, 2 mags for $589. Both prices are within my limits, and seem to be pretty good prices from others ive seen. So what do you think is the better deal / better gun.

Hard to say what meets your needs. I have had a M70 with the solid stock, and it was a nice heavy rifle. It shot very well indeed. I presently have a M95A with the underfolder stock. The folding stock takes awhile to get used to, and IME is not as easy to shoot well as a wood stock.

The Polish milled receiver rifle is on my short list of rifles to buy. It it is nice and tight and no sight cant I think I would splurge a little bit and get that one.

Like I said though, which one turns your crank the most?

There is no perfect rifle but there are several that are darned good. Hope you get what you want.

I was going to pick up a Yugo underfolder myself but then a local gun shop had the Polish 1960 in stock and I was blown away by the price for this milled AK-47. It is a pretty solid rifle and the milled receiver makes for a hefty rifle. I haven't shot mine yet but hope to very soon. The gun shop I had bought it from had a Yugo underfolder for 799 but it had the UTG rails on it and the 1960 was 699. I hope she shoots as good as she looks! :)

Go with the polish, I've read good reviews on it. Underfolders actually sort of suck to shoot, most of us own them because their compact and sort of cool, but not something we'd take out and shoot often. I have two underfolders and I rarely shoot them, I always grab my fixed stock. The underfolder is good to slide under a seat or to throw in a bag.
