Does anyone have experience with the yugo mausers that ate floating around at various gunshops? How is the quality of these guns? are they safe to shoot? are the actions strong on them?

I just received my "new" M-48 from Aim. It is a beautiful gun with teak furniture.Haven't fired it yet but being a Mauser it should be a great gun!Wholesale guns n ammo has them for $159.00 with free shipping in unissued condition like mine is.Their phone # is (631)234-7676 :)

I recently picked up a Yugo M-48 that was imported by The Gun Parts Corporation. I saw it at a Sporting Goods Store and realized that this weapon was too good to pass up. Upon disassembly and degreasing I found the weapon to be in NRA excellent condition. I could be wrong but I think this weapon has never been fired. There are no marks on the bolt face that you'd normally see on used weapons. Get a hold of Mitchell Sales, The Gun Parts Corporation, or Century Arms International, Im sure you'll find one. They are great wepons and they shoot quite well. Buy one, you wont be dissatisfied.

I recently picked up a Yugo M48 in unissued condition from Big 5 sporting goods. It doesn't exhibit the quality of finish of my m96 Sweede, but is very solidly built and in my opinion a best buy. I haven't had a chance to do any real accuracy testing, but it appears to be more than adequate for hunting. If I had the $$ I'd buy another.

I've had a Yugo M48 for about a year now. A GPC import I picked up at Big 5 for (I think) $159 on sale. Quality is great - hard to beat for the money. It's a shortened 98 action, with (I've read somewhere) improved steels - so, yes, it's strong. Where else are you going to find one of those in like-new condition for under $200? Yes, they're safe to shoot. There's tons of surplus 8 mm out there, but I've stuck to the Hirtenberger NC stuff, which the rifle seems to like.
