Yugo M2447 finish question

What is the easiest way to remove some of the excess oil from my stock? I really like my M2447 but shooting it in warmer months is a pain. Also, could i cause any damage to the rifle by removing too much of the oil?

Unless you remove the oil with something harsh you won't hurt it.

Check the C&R sites, lots of great ideas there from kitty litter, to hair dryer, heat cabinet, or just letting it set in the sun and wiping/turning as needed (my usual method).

If you take your time you won't hurt the stock. If you hit it hard with a lot of chemicals you may mess it up to I would advice against that route, plus it's pricey and hazardous to you.

May I suggest using Citristrip, available at local home improvement, tool stores, and Wal-Mart. It's safe to use on wood, and it works wonders. Use that stuff once or twice, then a couple of days in the hot sun of summertime, and your stock will be completely free of Cosmoline.
