Yugo .30-'06 ammo

Hello all,

I bought a Garand at the gun show in Dallas today. I also picked up 200 rounds of Lake City (stamped '62).

I saw a lot of Yugoslav .30-'06 for sale. It was stamped '57, and was supposedly made for the Venezuelan army.
Do any of you know if this ammo is corrosive?

I figured since it's 1950's era, and from an Eastern block country, it is probably highly corrosive.

Thanks for all replies.

I don't have any first-hand experience with this ammo, but Aim Surplus (www.aimsurplus.com) says that it is non-corrosive and boxer primed (reloadable). They sell it for $99.95 for 484 rounds - slightly less in larger quantities.

Huh. The dealer I talked with today had the SAME 484 round ammo can for $90.

He had NO clue as to whether it was corrosive or not, or if it was loaded TOO HOT for a Garand's op rod.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out!
