Hello, this is my first post on this board. I was wondering if anyone could offer an opinion on the pistol that I purchased today. ESPECIALLY THE GOING PRICE!!!
I bought an H&K USP .40 S&W with 2 13rd mags.
Very good condition. Thanks for any input.
P.S. What should I expect to be different from my Ruger P95?
Thanks

It would be easier for us to comment on the price if you told us what you paid.

About 8 months ago, a new HK USP40 fullsize, blue could be purchased for around $520. Most places ask over $600, however, and recent used prices have been over $500.

Pre-ban 13-rnd magazines go for around $75 - $100.

ricedw24,

Welcome to the forum.

In my opinion, if you paid less than $550 you got a great deal. Especially since you got 2 hi-cap magazines.

I picked up a full size USP 45 a while back and I love it. I'm sure yours will impress you also.

Congrats on the USP! Two years ago I got a nice USP40 with trijicon night sites, the H&K UTL tactical light and 4 13-round hicaps for the cost of an airline ticket ($369). My brother was desperate to see his girlfriend in Chicago and offered the USP in exchange for a ticket. I think I got a pretty good deal but I don't think I would have bought one otherwise. The grip is too big for my hands and I can't seem to shoot it as well as my Glock 23. The workmanship on the USP is outstanding, however, and people I know who own one absolutely love them. It does makes a good home defense gun. Enjoy :)

Not many used USPs around here. The hicaps go for $75 each, the used w 10 rounders for $450.

You can expect customer service, if you need it, will be really bad compared to Ruger. :)

I've got 4 HKs and 4 Rugers; none have ever given me any trouble. I have seen both go back though. Ruger is quick and easy, HK is slow and hard to deal with.

At my local range in Evansville, Indiana, they have an HK USP .40cal full size in very-good to excellent condition with (4) 10 round magazines tagged at $595. It's a great gun and I think I'm gonna pick it up this week...

I've been looking at the USP's lately. Mostly at new ones, but I now consider myself an expert on their pricing (on the new guns anyway).

Most new USP's run around 600 bucks. The .45's are usually slightly more, and the stainless steel slides add a 30-50 dollar premium.

The one interesting exception I've found is the 9mm Variant 7. That's the DAO. I've seen it go for 450-500 new! Not sure why, but apparently the DAO's are not as popular (I know I prefer the DA/SA).

Finally, the regular mags are worth about 20-30 bucks, while the hi-caps fetch between 75-100.

Good places to check this stuff are www.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com.
