Your last patch after cleaning - what's on it?

Hey guys (and gals),

After you clean your bore, do you run a patch with something on it to protect against rust? If so, what do you use? (I'll need to store this rifle from now until probably beginning of Nov, when I'll take it to the range for a sight-in before deer opens).

I've been using Rem Oil, but recently switched to Break-Free CLP.

Thanks!

I ran w/ BreakFree since 1981 -- until two years ago.

Then WeaponShield came out (read the reviews, all of which mirror my experience)

Read this User test as well where both WeaponShield & BreakFree were used side-by-side on an old revolver.

And no... I don't own stock in this stuff. ;)

More ways to skin this cat !!

Birchwood Casey's, "Sheath" . Surprising how well it works .... :)

Be Safe !!!

I think it's pretty irrelevant unless it's a safe queen- and then you need to re-oil periodically as the oil "runs off"...

I agree with the above poster that just says gun oil...

We shoot monthly (at least)- I usually use nothing after cleaning with Wipe-Out as it contains an anti-corrosion agent that's worked fine for short term.

My last patch has NOTHING! I wipe the excess oil out with a dry patch after I oil the bore. I store my guns in a safe, barrel up. If you leave to much oil in the barrel it runs down into the action and can cause things like slow/sticky firing pins.:(

My shotguns? Nothing as the barrels are chrome plated .
Other ,non-chrome barrels get a patch with RIG preservative grease .
