Looking at different conceal carry options for my girlfriend (I am not picking, she is, I am just there for input) but I am buying what she decides (within reason). Decided to rent a S&W Shield 9mm. Man working the counter says, let me show you something before you rent this, as he pulls out the Sig P938. He explains to me how nice they are, I explain its for her and not me and that I know how nice they are....as I am thinking you just cost me close to an extra $200. Anyway, looks like the search is over for her CCW. Just to put it out there I am not mad at the guy, he is legitimately in to what he does and tried to provide her with one of the best CCW options he feels are out there, unfortunately I do agree with him and it is going to cost me a bit more.

My wife had her eye on a M&P 9 Shield for her birthday, but before I bought it for her, I told her to take a look at a few other pistols. We went to the gun show and she walked out of there with a Walther PPS M2. There went an additional $100.

Yes sir ^^^ it sure has. No one to blame but myself :), she never gave firearms or shooting much of a thought until she met me, now she has her CC permit, shoots my 1911 and her M&P9c like she was born with them, always is bugging me to go shooting, attends ladies night shooting at our LGS and is joining a womens shooting club.
In reference to a CCW, she has shot my Kahr CM9 and didn't care for it, thought a XDS 9mm was nice but wasn't a fan of the grips, held the Shield but was interupted with the Sig. She held the Sig and as I saw her eyes light up I thought c%^p, there it is.

You've created a monster.
My better half never had an inkling either until our local club started a steel challenge series, and I got a new .22 with a dot scope for it.
She took to it like her favorite chocolate dessert.
Gotta' be careful sometimes what you wish for.

Ahh yes, the steel targets. That was another catalyst to all of this, picked up a gong and a resetting target from shootsteel.com, needless to say she can't get enough of that. Man I didn't realize how expensive ammo could get lol. Might have to reconsider reloading.
I have created a monster!! I tell you though, there are few things better than a day of shooting with her in National forest and then getting a little fishing in on the way home (Yeh, I got her into fishing as well) I don't know when to quit, guess I didn't expect her to take to these things as much as she has.

Fortunately, my better half only likes "her" .22.
See how that works?
So no extra reloading is required.
The only fish she's interested in is what's at the market.

Ahhh, great minds think alike...:D. In all seriousness, revolvers are the first thing I tried to start her on, 1st a 4" 686 with .38's (man I wanted her to like that), next a 442, we tried and tried, her and the revolvers were not jiving. Gave her my Glock 26, game on, she was on the target like hair on a gorilla...can't figure her out..:D.

Your story sounds like mine: I took my wife to the LGS to look at an LCP, and the clerk suggested she look at the P238 along side it. A few minutes later, I was heading home for more cash.

It seems to me that men like to suggest revolvers to women more than women like revolvers. The ladies at my house (wife, two grown daughters, and several friends of the kids who I have introduced to handguns) all prefer pistols. There are ladies who prefer revolvers, of course, but they so far have not passed through my house.

Damage is already done.

I have dealt with the same gun store for a number of years. The manager and several of the salesmen know me. They all know never to recommend anything unless asked. I bring them lots of customers who have asked for MY help. I usually have a particular gun in mind when I go to buy one. I am fortunate that I belong to two different very good sized gun clubs and I have the advantage of being able to speak with owners of a particular model and most times, able to shoot that model gun before I decide to buy it.

When it comes to the wife, if she's partaking in my hobby, I have no qualms (within reason) with what she wants. Her carry gun is a Sig P238TL. It's not my fault the wife has good taste :)
