You don't eat it when you change it out.

I like the idea. Don't be afraid to think outside of the box. I'm going to charge up my walnut media with some rice. Thanks for the idea.

Real issue is that when you change it(stuff doesn't get changed out. Just changed. snicker.) mice and assorted other wee beasties and birds will eat it and die a slow painful death. Same reason steel shot is required for migratory birds.

I tried it about a year or so ago. Did a nice job but ended up with too much dust. Dumped it into a garbage bag and off to the dumps with it.

Why keep trying to re-invent the wheel?

Corn cobs and Walnut shells have worked fine forever, and aren't good for much else.

It seems silly to waste food

Used to do it all the time in the dryer with a load of towels. Until I didn't tie the bag well enough

No.

I take my brass, put it into a bag, and run it in the washing machine with my jeans. Pour it onto a tray and air dry. Perfectly clean. I tumble with a mix of treated corn and walnut, for a couple hours, and it's spotless. If he threw out his rice after 1,000 barely tolerable rounds, and walnut lasts FOREVER, how is rice cheaper? I have spillage loss and top up the media once in a while, and last bought media decades ago. I keep a big sea sponge in my tumbler, it swallows every pinch of dust. Tap the media loose and wash it, dry it, on with business.

This is not superior to traditional media, it's far inferior in every possible way, as far as I can see. I especially am not interested in digging rice out of my flash holes.

Hyrum, I can't imagine the words that were exchanged. My brother in law supposedly piled dirty mechanics tools into his mother's dishwasher, and was nearly ejected from the home forever.

At least that's the family legend.

Ahahahhah!!!

Ah, briandg, I was thinking something similar.

I already KNOW my wife would just about kill me if that was found to be going on in the clothes washer/dryer.

Clark - do a google image search on a subject for something you have posted a picture. You will be amazed how many things pop up. I have discovered more than one hundred pictures we have taken over the years that are posted on the internet. Many of which we did not post but other people have.

Lol well.. Let's just say it was my way of getting back... We lived in an with shared laundry and were severely prejudiced. Soon after we moved in, a laundry schedule came out. All the other tenants had weekend days... And us? We had Tuesday... They even gave a vacant unit a weekend day, and when we asked to be switched it was denied. A week later, a new tenant moved in and took the day we asked for.

Good for me, we promptly moved into a house, so now I get a reloading room!

On that subject, if you Google Image search "ocw targets" the ones I designed pop up :)

Regarding copied photos, I posted an item on eBay once. A month later someone offered the same item. They used every one of my photos and even copied the description and all other details.

Anger issues arose.

I suppose if it works, have at it. Seems silly to me though.

And the author of the linked page is using dented case mouths as a negative against SSTL pins? Who trims, chamfers and deburs before tumbling for cleaning anyway? That is just backwards.
