A friend asked me this and now, just to be curious, I'll post it to all of you.

"If for whatever reason, you could only own one rifle, to meet all your needs for the rest of your life, WHAT CALIBER WOULD IT BE?"

It doesn't have to be one you already own, let's say whatever you choose you would be given a rifle in that caliber.
 
Ditto again Bruce and GG. M1A or maybe FN/FAL. Lotsa mags and ammo!

Needs or wants?

Needs: a custom 300 or 338

Wants: 416

Assuming I can have at least one handgun.

If I could only have one gun period then would be either my 4" 629 or a M1a Scout.
 
Just for the record, it was hard deciding between the old 30-06 or .308 but would favor the .308 because of it's better accuracy. What rifle I'd choose, still thinking.
 
Either .250 Savage, .243 Winchester, or .308.

Any of those will do just about anything that is asked of it.
