Yote Loadin

Just thought I would mention my "yote" lodin technique. Well several years ago I picked up some Ramshot "Xterminator" . With a name like that it must be good. I started loadin for my Bushmaster with a 1 in 9 barrel and ended up with the following load: Sierra 65 gr Gameking , Remington 71/2 Primers , 24 grains of Xteminator . Shoots very good in both my AR's , my son-in-law's Mini-14 , and my partner's Ruger AR. I now have my dies set up on a dedicated turret on a Redding T-7 and regularly produce a few hundred at a time. I throw the powder with a Redding Model 3 . The maximum variation I have measured is about .2 grains . This load shoots an 1" to 1 1/2" in most AR's I've tried and about 2 " in my Son-in-law's Mini . Not Bolt action clover-leafs but good enough to eliminate Hogs and yotes at 223 ranges in West Tennessee and Mississippi.

I started using Xterminator because it was easy to find and it often is a little cheaper than other powders I have tried. I have also tried "Siellier and Belliot " small rifle primers with the load above and they are about as good as the Remington's .

Just some thoughts

Xterminator is a superlative powder for 55 grain .223 loads. It's easy on the carbine gas system and gives good velocity and accuracy in 16" barrels.

If you look at Western Powders load guide, you will see that Ramshot Exterminator has identical loading data with Accurate 2230. Same powder, different label. I haven't tried my pound of Exterminator yet, but the pound of Accurate 2230 didn't seem to do anything better than what Ramshot TAC can do in my rifles, at least. YMMV.

Hmmm, i'm using Win748 with the 55 grainers.
Course it's out of the wifes Savage110FP.
LC cases and CCI primers.

I used the 64 grain WW PP with 24 grains of 2460. I shot many many coyotes in AZ with it, and a few javelina and 2 deer. I never had any animal move more than 2-3 yards after being shot with it, it actually did better on deer than my 30/06! Bullets recovered were always nicely mushroomed.

I later went to the 50 grain Federal hp, because I could get it for $4/20 back then, and it was a tough little bullet that did almost as well as the 64,

I bought a bag of the 64 gr WW PP's a while back . I've read good things about them . I just hadn't tried them yet. Got stuck on the Game Kings. Also they are readily available locally and the Winchesters aren't.
